It is with immense sadness that we write to inform you of the passing of our previous Association President Shirley Connolly OAM.

It’s fair to say Shirley “Mrs C” was the driving force behind Campbelltown District Netball Association for the last 30 years and has been recognised for her efforts at local and state level.

Her roles varied at the Association during her involvement.

Her actions reflect the belief that if your community provides a service then you should give something in return. She certainly achieved that and more. She was also a strong believer in thanking people who have volunteered their time and for being loyal to the association.

While many people lose that connection and move on to bigger and better things when they have become involved at association level, she made sure she maintained that grass roots connection.

As a child she never had the opportunity to play sport and although she never played netball, she fell in love with the game, after having her 5 girls play she recognised the importance of girls playing team sport, she saw first hand the value and rewards of being part of a team.

In 2021 Shirley was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for her outstanding contribution to netball in the MacArthur region.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Connolly family at this time.

The Executive and Campbelltown netball will miss Shirley immensely.
