Obtaining a Clearance
Club convenors should submit names of all umpires requiring a clearance before they umpire. The Umpiring Committee will view an umpire on a game of the appropriate level before giving a clearance. An umpire's clearance determines the highest grade of game that umpire can officiate. Club convenors must submit a request for a new clearance if a umpire wants to umpire a higher grade.
An automatic clearance (without viewing) will be granted to umpires provided they meet all of the following criteria:
(a) a current theory pass (valid forĀ 4 years)
(b) a level one umpires accreditation
(c) an Association or National badge
(d) umpired in the previous 2 years
Convenors should provide the details of the umpires for whom they are seeking a clearance on the appropriate form available either from Umpires Control or from the website. Separate forms should be provided for junior (15 and under) and senior clearances. Note: Junior umpires will normally only be granted a clearance to umpire up to their age.
